The move

So... ok, Anupam got the job he wanted and was required to start almost immediatly... in San Mateo, just south of San Francisco, California. He was to go through a 3 week bootcamp style training after which he needs to certify before starting. Pretty intense.

23rd of March we are getting our act together to get ready to move. We pack all the essentials into neat little boxes... well, some of them weren't so little. We thought we could rent the smallest U-Haul truck for our stuff. So wrong! Plus they make the usual mistakes of reserving the wrong truck at the wrong location. The usual fun stuff. So we started loading the truck. We wheeled Eve's swing to the garage and put her in it, while Anupam and I used the dolly to load up all our crap. In 5 minutes Eve was out like a light, smiling, dreaming... yeah, I want that job.

It took us about 2-3 hours to completely load up the truck, but we kept finding little things that we forgot. So we were in reality loading the thing till late at night. The plan was to get to bed early so that we could wake up whenever Eve had her first "night" feeding, usualy at around 5:30am, and leave right away stopping only when she woke for the day to eat breakfast. Turned out we weren't as ready as we thought we were cause once she woke up, an hour later than expected, it took us two hours to get on the road. That turned out to just about perfect anyways: it was Eve's nap time!

We drove the whole day, stopping every time the lil' one woke up to eat or play so we didn't quite make it all the way into SF. In fact we stopped probably only 30 minutes or so North, but by then Eve had really had enough. So we arrived the next morning.

Anupam had already previewed some apartments so we had a look at the one he liked the most, we filled out an application but didn't like that location that much so I continued looking after Anupam started working. It was a good thing too cause we found the cutest two bedroom apartment for cheaper, closer to Anupam's work, a block from the grocery store and lots of other shops...since our car was in a shop in Oregon, now, that was kismet!
