Water water everywhere
This has been a sad week for the world. I cannot imagine how a family caught in the middle of it must feel. I wish we could do more to reduce the suffering.
The most blatantly abhorrent thing someone said to me, was on New Year's eve. An old friend called me and asked me what I was planning on doing. I told her of my plans. She told me that she, her friends and family were planning on heading off to one of the swankiest hotels for their party. Over a 120 Thousand people are dead and these people want to spend as much money as some people make in more than a year, in one night. I cannot understand the shallowness, but I must learn not to measure people with my yard stick.
What are you trying to celebrate? How can we celebrate in full view of such tragedy? I was happy to hear that many friends decided to donate the money they would have spent on that one night. There is so little we can do for people who face such devastation.
Tricia and I have decided to dedicate our marathon effort for Mumbai Marathon 2005 to all the victims. We will try to raise some pledges. I know it won't be much, but we shall try our best.
We had a quiet new years eve, with a few friends over.
I don't really have much to say. See you sometime soon.
